Sew a Chore Coat
Saturday and Sunday, April 26-7 from 1 - 5 p.m.
Price includes all fabric and materials, and the pattern.
In this hands-on sewing class, you'll learn to make your own chore coat, a versatile and timeless garment that’s as practical as it is stylish. Inspired by classic workwear, this coat is perfect for layering over your everyday outfits or wearing as a stand-alone statement piece. Ideal for those with basic sewing skills, this class will walk you through creating a functional yet fashionable coat with a relaxed, comfortable fit.
In this class, you’ll learn how to:
Choose the right fabric (denim, canvas, twill, or other durable fabrics)
Understand the construction of a chore coat, including details like pockets, cuffs, and a collar
Sew straight seams, finish raw edges, and add topstitching for a professional, polished look
Customize your coat with personal touches like patch pockets or adjustable cuffs
Learn fitting techniques to ensure your coat is just right for your body
By the end of the class, you’ll walk away with a durable, stylish chore coat that can be worn year-round, whether you're working in the garden, running errands, or just looking for a cool, everyday jacket. And a sewing pattern to make more
Materials: Bring your own fabric (about 2.5 to 3 yards of medium weight fabric like denim, canvas, or twill- check with becky first), or select from a variety of fabric choices provided by the instructor. Sewing machines and other necessary tools will be available in class.
This class is perfect for those looking to level up their sewing skills, create a practical wardrobe staple, and enjoy the satisfaction of making their own functional garment from scratch! Sewing machines and tools will be provided. This class is for 18+
